Our teaching theme for 2011 is: “A PEOPLE PREPARED.” The biblical concept behind this theme is found in Luke 1:17.
“And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
While Luke obviously makes reference to the ministry of John the Baptist here, the Elders have chosen this passage to reflect the vision for Wellsprings Church for the coming year of 2011, on several different levels. Over the last several years, we have been repeatedly made aware of our country’s efforts to be prepared in case of another terrorist attack thanks to postings and alerts from Homeland Security. Many people take natural precautions and prepare themselves for emergencies (via first aid kits, membership in AAA, stocking the pantry with extra food or water, gun ownership, self-defense courses, etc). But for Christians, while these things may be prudent, they are secondary to spiritual preparation. Are you prepared? Here are 4 questions that I would propose for your consideration:
